Edmonton International Airport (EIA) has surpassed the milestone five-million-passenger mark on a rolling 12-month basis (October 1, 2005 to Sept. 30, 2006) for the first time in its history.

The five-million mark was exceeded with a record September, generating a 13.1% increase in passengers served for the month over September 2005. With more than 432,000 passengers, September 2006 was also the seventh month in a row that passenger volumes surpassed at least 400,000 passengers.

Year-to-date, overall passenger traffic has increased by 15 per cent at EIA. Domestic passenger traffic is up by 15.8%; Transborder (U.S.) by 11.4%; and International by 6.9%.
