05/23/02

Calgary -- WestJet today celebrated the commencement of its new Toronto service, offering daily non-stop flights from Toronto to Calgary and Toronto to Edmonton. WestJet will operate its flights from Terminal 3 at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. One-way fares between Toronto and Calgary start as low as $205, and one-way fares between Toronto and Edmonton start as low as $222.

Clive Beddoe, WestJet President and CEO, said today: “We are very pleased to be adding our 22nd WestJet destination today, operating new non-stop service between Toronto and Calgary, and Toronto and Edmonton.

“Our entrance into Canada’s largest air travel market has been much anticipated and marks a significant milestone for WestJet. The recent addition of two leased aircraft has allowed us to expand our services, and bring competition to a market that has been dominated by one major carrier domestically.

“I believe Toronto residents will be impressed by WestJet’s low fares and brand of fun, friendly, customer-focused service. We are very pleased to be providing choice for people in Toronto looking for a new way to fly.”

WestJet continues to operate 10 non-stop destinations out of its Hamilton hub.

WestJet serves the 22 Canadian cities of Victoria, Comox, Vancouver, Abbotsford/Fraser Valley, Prince George, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Thompson, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, London, Ottawa, Hamilton, Toronto, and Moncton. WestJet currently operates a fleet of 30 Boeing 737 aircraft, featuring five state-of-the-art Next-Generation 737-700 aircraft.

WestJet is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol WJA.
